Lahore Shopping Festival 2012

2nd Lahore Shopping Festival 2012 is the second Mega event of Lahore Shopping Festival series organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. First Lahore Shopping Festival was held last year. With changing time trends also change. People use to go out for entertainment and enjoyment. Shopping trends are changing day by day. People prefer going to a Mart or a super market instead of going to different shops. Time has taken much importance in our life. And in such trends festivals adds value. People as prefer going out for shopping and outing love to go for any festival. Because festival brings lots of brands at one platform and you not need to even go to different markets or shopping malls. Lahore Shopping Festival is one of the festivals which has gained much importance. In realization of role as a business facilitator, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry had successfully organized a large-scale and first of its kind multi-event programs a mega event named Lahore Shopping Festival in April 2011 in collaboration with the Government of Punjab. Lahore Shopping Festival being a success 2011 is again organized by LCCI  Lahore Shopping Festival during the week of 22rd and 29th of April with full support of the Government of Punjab. The LSF2012 will enjoy full electronic and print media coverage with substantial presence on Web-based social media. The long series of events in the week include:

Youth Studio:

Youth Studio is being created to inspire, educate and empower youth so that they can unleash their potential and realize their dreams. It aims to facilitate and guide young and makes a contribution in transforming youth of Pakistan in to responsible and valuable members of society.

Technology for People Initiative (TPI) Launch by LUMS & Google

Technology for People Initiative (TPI) is a new step and initiative taken by Lahore University of Management Sciences(LUMS) . This event is being launched by Lahore University of Management Sciences sponsored by GoogleInc. It’s an open event so anybody who wants to bring some positive change in society of Pakistan can become Netizen and be part of this event but registration is mandatory.

Technology is becoming more popular with time. Use of technology by people can surely bring a change in society. TPI is dedicated to using technology to create solutions relevant to the socio-economic context of Pakistan, and will focus on leveraging technology in the domains of public policy and governance. The initiative is multi-disciplinary in nature; bring together resources from multiple departments and partners, to create comprehensive and deployable solutions.

LUMS already has a portfolio of independent R&D projects of practical significance, in partnership with government departments. The goal of this initiative is to bring these activities on a single platform, to leverage their synergies for multiplier effect, and to initiate new projects in this domain. TPI will provide focus to our desire to leverage the knowledge base and intellectual resources available at LUMS for the practical benefit to the people of Pakistan.

ENTREPRENEURIAL COLLOQUIUM - Unleash The Next BIG Thing

University of Engineering and Technology is one of the most renowned and prestigious institutions in Pakistan. Since its creation, UET has maintained coherence between academia and industry.

In 2011, five of the major societies of UET i.e. ACM, IEEE, ASME, EC, IET under the supervision of KICS has collaborated and arranged a first Mega Event of UET; Techno-Fest’11. There were 30 participant universities including UET Faisalabad, the University of Faisalabad, GCU Faisalabad, NFC Faisalabad, UET Taxila, BZU, COMSTAS, Air University, NED Karachi, IST Islamabad, Punjab University, IUB and UET Peshawar and had a walk-in of above 10,000 attendees. There were about 30 competitions gathering 500 teams from all over Pakistan. The prize money was worth PKR 250,000. Career-Fair had about 32 industrial stalls and 20 sponsorship partners.

This year Techno-Fest’12 is all set to achieve bigger than last time. A Joint Venture by IET, IEE, ASME, ACM & IB&M under the umbrella of KICS (Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Sciences)

This time UET is increasing competitions list to near forty. Technofest’12 provides one a full fledged opportunity to ‘experience the aptitude’ towards engineering and design of all sorts! It is an event comprising of engineering project exhibition, technical and non-technical competitions, seminars and workshops; the most important of all the Career-fair. There will be stalls from over 100 companies. The blend of technical and non-technical competitions would be the best treat for students.
